"Pick Up Your Cross And Follow Me"

I WANT THE VERY BEST FOR YOU, the irony being that "the very best" requires you to lose many things that are not important or are distracting you from obtaining the inheritance I have in mind for you.

It's sometimes hard to discern what those distracting things are, and even harder to do the work of unplugging yourself from them, once you have identified them. Of course, those things tend to do with money, fame, power, etc.—things which can be very good and enjoyable, but apart from Me often lead to misery.

Try to follow the lead of my Son Jesus Christ. He's the one who says that you must "take up your cross and follow him." Of course, he's also the one who took up his own very heavy cross, and sacrificed himself so that you could have eternal life. Whatever cross you pick up for his sake is small compared to what he has already done for you.

Let the earth-shattering love that I, your Heavenly Father, have for you empower you to be bold, in Jesus' mighty name!

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
