Heavenly Father,
You know that not everything in life
Is pleasant.
So it is with the task
Of picking up my dog's poo.
But why am I doing this?
At least when we are outside,
I do this for the sake of my neighbor,
Whose good I am meant to desire
Above my own convenience.
Lord, may you transform my annoyance at this task
Into an ever-growing capacity
For loving my neighbor
As I love you, O God.
Amen.
